An Oxidized Bitumen Membrane Reinforced with Nonwoven Polyester

Description

ABAK OXYBOND waterproofing membrane features a nonwoven polyester reinforcement that is impregnated and coated on both sides with oxidized bitumen. When properly installed, ABAK OXYBOND creates a resilient and impermeable waterproofing layer that can accommodate structural movement without compromising its integrity.

Usage

ABAK OXYBOND is a versatile waterproofing membrane suitable for a wide range of applications. It excels in both multi-layer and single-layer roofing systems. For exposed top layers, ABAK OXYBOND is ideal when surfaced with granular slate. It is also highly effective for underground waterproofing systems. When exceptional performance is essential, ABAK OXYBOND is the go-to choice, particularly in extremely cold climates.

Advantages

  • Excellent cost-performance ratio
  • Resistant to fatigue and tear
  • Exceptional bondability and seam integrity
  • Impact and puncture resistant
  • Reduces costs with single-layer installation

General Data

Nominal Roll Length: 10 meters
Nominal Roll Width: 1 meter
Nominal Thickness: Available in 3mm, 4mm, or 5mm

Application

ABAK OXYBOND can be installed using the torch welding method, loose-laid, or fully bonded to the substrate. In the case of loose-laid installation, only laps need to be bonded together. Peripheries and protrusions should be sealed according to the provided specifications.

Coverage Rate (Approx.)

(Note: Rate may vary depending on site requirements)

Flat areas: 1.15 square meters per layer, considering 10 cm side laps and 15 cm end laps.
Base flashing: 100×35 cm with 15 cm end laps, covering approximately 0.40 square meters per linear meter.
Average wastage: 3% – 5%

Torching Guidelines

To ensure proper installation, the underside of the membrane should be torched just enough to superficially melt the bitumen. Excessive heating can potentially damage the reinforcement. Overlaps should be reheated from the top and securely sealed with a trowel to maintain seam integrity.
