APP Modified Bitumen Waterproofing Membrane with 200 GSM Polyester Reinforcement

Description

ABAK HD is a uniquely engineered pre-constructed waterproofing membrane featuring a special multilayered design for superior flexibility, tensile strength, ease of use, and resistance to environmental elements.

The multilayered structure includes a spunbonded polyester core, coated on both sides with APP-modified bitumen. The incorporation of the polyester core gives the membrane high tensile strength, elongation, and exceptional lap joint strength.

Once properly installed, ABAK HD forms a watertight, perpetually flexible waterproof layer that can accommodate regular structural movements without cracking or breaking

Usage

ABAK HD membranes are perfectly suited for a broad spectrum of waterproofing uses, including roofing systems, water reservoirs, basements, tunnels, and car parking facilities.

ABAK HD can be deployed in both exposed and covered scenarios.

Advantages

  • Complete waterproofing
  • Exceptional resistance to aging and weather conditions
  • Superior adhesive properties and seam durability; Stability in high-temperature environments
  • Exceptionally high resistance to impact and punctures
  • Straightforward, single-layer installation reducing labour costs and minimizing errors
  • A wide range of finishes suitable for both exposed and covered applications

Basic Information

ABAK HD is an APP-modified bitumen membrane, reinforced with a spun-bonded non-woven polyester, available in a black finish with a very thin polyethylene foil on both sides. A granule finish is also available upon request.

Nominal Weight: Available in 3, 4, or 5 kg/M2
Nominal Thickness: Available in 3, 4, or 5 MM
Standard Roll Size: 1 x 10 Meters

Reinforcement Details:
A strong, isotropic, spun-bonded, non-woven polyester core, weighing 200 gsm/m2.

Surface

ABAK FIBERLON HD comes in two primary finishes:
-Black, smooth finish with polyethylene surfaces, ideal for covered applications.
-Granule surfacing, perfect for applications that are exposed to the elements.

Quality Assurance

Beyond the rigorous routine assessments conducted by ABAK’s in-house laboratory, our products are also subject to periodic testing by independent external laboratories to ensure unmatched quality.

Compliance

ABAK HD meets the requirements and adheres to the tolerance levels set by the following standards. Some standards have been adapted to better accommodate various global climatic conditions.

-ASTM D 6222 Type II, as outlined by the American Society for Testing and Materials.
-MOAT 27 1983 and MOAT 30 1984, as per the European Union of Technical Agreement (UEAtc).
-CGSB 37 GP 56M-July 1980, as specified by the Canadian General Standard Board.
-The German Standard DIN 52133.

Required Tools for Installation

A gas torch, knife, trowel, measuring tape, marking string, and gloves.

APPLICATION PROCESS
ABAK HD is applied using the torch welding method and can be either loosely laid or fully bonded to the substrate. When the membrane is loose-laid, only the overlaps are adhered together. Peripheral areas, protrusions, and other flashing details are installed as per the specified instructions.

Estimated Coverage

(Please note, these rates may vary according to specific site requirements)

Flat areas: Approximately 1.13 M2/M2 per layer.
For 30cm Girth Flashing: Approximately 0.35 M2 per linear Meter.
Average wastage: Approximately between 3 – 5%.

Torching Instructions

The underside of the membrane should be heated just enough to melt the bitumen superficially. Be cautious not to overheat as it may damage the reinforcement. Overlaps must be re-heated from the top and re-sealed using a trowel to ensure the integrity of the seam.
