Modified Bitumen Waterproofing Membrane with Non-woven Polyester Reinforcement

Description

The ABAK APP is an exceptional, high-efficiency, ready-made, modified bitumen membrane, composed of a unique waterproofing mixture, reinforced with a spun-bonded non-woven polyester mat.

ABAK’s unique waterproofing blend is meticulously formulated with premium bitumen enhanced with Atactic Polypropylene (APP) to achieve increased elasticity and flexibility. This mix is further improved with a combination of Thermoplastic Polymer (TP) and Elastoplastic Copolymer (EPC) for heightened heat resistance, enhanced elongation, and exceptional low-temperature flexibility. The mixture is subsequently stabilized with opaque Mineral Stabilizers (MS) for added impact resistance, Ultra Violet (UV) resistance, and longevity.

This high-quality waterproofing blend is bolstered with a durable, isotropic, spun-bonded, non-woven polyester mat for augmented strength, resilience, and dimensional stability.

The distinctive compound and unique reinforcement, when coupled with the renowned ABAK process technology and stringent quality control procedures, result in the most trustworthy and high-performing waterproofing membrane available.

Usage

The ABAK APP is a versatile, multi-functional membrane, that performs excellently whether used in single or multi-layer roofing systems. It’s perfect for underground waterproofing, multi-story car park structures, lining of ponds, and irrigation canals. It’s also ideal for swimming pools or any other structure that demands superior waterproofing performance.

Compliance

ABAK APP meets the requirements and adheres to the tolerance levels set by the following standards. Some standards have been adapted to better accommodate various global climatic conditions.

-ASTM D 6222 Type II, as outlined by the American Society for Testing and Materials.
-MOAT 27 1983 and MOAT 30 1984, as per the European Union of Technical Agreement (UEAtc).
-CGSB 37 GP 56M-July 1980, as specified by the Canadian General Standard Board.
-The German Standard DIN 52133.

Required Tools for Installation

A gas torch, knife, trowel, measuring tape, marking string, and gloves.

APPLICATION PROCESS
ABAK APP is applied using the torch welding method, either loosely laid or fully bonded to the substrate. In loose-laid installations, only the overlaps are bonded together. The peripheries and protrusions are sealed in accordance with specifications.

Estimated Coverage

(Please note, these rates may vary according to specific site requirements)

Flat areas: Approx. 1.15 M2/M2 per layer with 10 cm side laps and 15 cm end laps.
Base flashing: 100×35 cm with 15 cm end laps, approx. 0.40 M2 per Linear Meter.
Average wastage: Approximately between 3 – 5%.

Torching Instructions

The underside of the membrane should be heated just enough to melt the bitumen superficially. Be cautious not to overheat as it may damage the reinforcement. Overlaps must be re-heated from the top and re-sealed using a trowel to ensure the integrity of the seam.
