APP Modified Membrane With Dual Reinforcement
Description
ABAK GLASSPOLYTEX is an exceptional, high-performance, prefabricated modified bitumen membrane. It features a proprietary waterproofing compound, reinforced with a combination of spun-bonded non-woven polyester mat and fibreglass mat.
The ABAK GLASSPOLYTEX proprietary waterproofing compound is carefully formulated with select bitumen, and modified with Attactic Polypropylene (APP), enhancing its elasticity, flexibility, and overall performance. It is further enriched with a blend of Thermoplastic Polymer (TP) and Elastoplastic Co-polymer (EPC), providing excellent heat resistance, elongation, and low-temperature flexibility. To ensure durability, the compound is stabilized with opaque Mineral Stabilizers (MS) that offer impact resistance and UV protection.
The superior waterproofing compound is reinforced with a robust, isotropic spun-bonded non-woven polyester mat, adding toughness and strength to the membrane. Additionally, a second layer of fibreglass reinforcement is incorporated on top to enhance dimensional stability, making it highly resistant to punctures and cracks.
With its proprietary compound, unique dual reinforcement, renowned ABAK process technology, and rigorous quality assurance program, ABAK GLASSPOLYTEX guarantees a reliable and dependable waterproofing solution.
Usage
ABAK GLASSPOLYTEX is an ideal choice for heavy-duty applications such as large-span equipment or traffic-bearing roofs, bridges, tunnels, underground tanking, below-grade waterproofing, or any project requiring toughness, impact resistance, and dimensional stability.

Compliance
ABAK GLASSPOLYTEX complies with the requirements and tolerance levels of:
The American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM) – ASTM D 6223, Type I.
UEAtc (European Union of Technical Agreement).
Required Tools for Installation
ABAK GLASSPOLYTEX can be installed using the torch welding method, either loosely laid or fully bonded to the substrate. In loose-laid installations, only overlaps are bonded together. Peripheries and protrusions are sealed according to specifications.
Estimated Coverage
(Note: Rates may vary depending on site requirements)
Flat areas: Approximately 1.15 M2/M2 per layer with 10 cm side laps and 15 cm end laps.
Base flashing: 100×35 cm with 15 cm end laps, approximately 0.40 M2 per linear meter.
Average wastage: Approximately 3-5%.
Torching Instructions
The underside of the membrane should be torched to a superficial melting point of the bitumen. Excessive heating may cause damage to the reinforcement. Overlaps should be reheated from the top and resealed using a trowel to ensure proper seam integrity.
